Hillary Clinton Talks Fake News, #Pizzagate: 'Lives Are At Risk' : NPR

Former Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton spoke about the dangers of the promulgation of fake news on Thursday after conspiracy stories involving her campaign spurred violence recently.

"The epidemic of malicious fake news and fake propaganda that flooded social media over the past year, it's now clear that so-called fake news can have real-world consequences," Clinton said.

She was referring to the "Pizzagate" incident in D.C. this weekend, which came to a terrifying head. A man believing a fake news story that Clinton and her aides were running a child sex ring out of a D.C. pizzeria entered the restaurant Sunday and fired a gun; no one was injured.

"This isn't about politics or partisanship — lives are at risk. Lives of ordinary people just trying to go about their days, to do their jobs, contribute to their communities," Clinton said in a speech at the Capitol where she and other lawmakers were honoring retiring Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid.

Other businesses around Comet Ping Pong have also received threats after conspiracy theories were peddled online, including by Infowars' Alex Jones, whom President-elect Donald Trump has praised. Abdel Hammad, owner of neighboring Besta Pizza, said he has also received threats amid allegations his business is also involved in child trafficking, and he told NPR member station WAMU that even though he voted for Trump, he is now rethinking that decision.

"It's a danger that must be addressed, and addressed quickly," Clinton continued. "Bipartisan legislation is making its way through Congress to boost the government's response to foreign propaganda, and Silicon Valley is starting to grapple with the challenge and threat of fake news. It's imperative that leaders in both the private sector and the public sector step up to protect our democracy and innocent lives."

The pointed comments from Clinton came amid a rare public appearance for the former nominee over the past month since she lost the election. At the outset of her speech, she made a joking nod to her reclusiveness.

"This is not exactly the speech at the Capitol I hoped to be giving after the election, but after a few weeks of taking selfies in the woods, I thought it would be a good idea to come out," she said, laughing.

Why is everyone freaking out in the YouTube comments? people saying this is the industry being blatant about pedophilia, the pizza reference, people saying the laugh track is sick and disgusting, etc., what am I missing here?

The 80s sitcoms were obviously all corny and super cheesy and they all had their "very serious" PSA episodes like Punky Brewster's friend getting locked in the refrigerator and almost dying, DJ having a eating disorder in Full House, or Jessie getting addicted to pills on Saved by the Bell. This seemed like all the other shows that did the same stuff, basically a PSA announcement for children/families to watch out for older men who prey on children. Mr. Belvedere had a similar episode where Wesley was touched by a summer camp counselor.

McCain Institute Caught Stealing Millions In Child Trafficking Donations

The McCain Institute claims it exists to fight human trafficking, but despite receiving millions in donations from Saudi Arabia, the Rothschilds, and Bloomberg, it has been revealed that none of the money was spent on fighting human trafficking.

Funds from the McCain Presidential Campaign were also quietly funneled into the McCain Institute’s coffers raising the possibility the Institute exists as a money laundering front.

The McCain Institute is a huge operation featuring upwards of 80 people including dozens of full time staff and board members including Ashton Kutcher and Lady Lynne Forrester de Rothschild.

Saudi Arabia donated $1,000,000 to the McCain Institute in 2014 in what looks suspiciously like a Clinton Foundation style pay-for-play “donation”, leading many to believe the secret donations explain why he has a certain “viewpoints” about the Middle East, and keeps making secret trips to Syria.

With millions of dollars in donations from powerful corporations, governments and billionaire bankers, not to mention John McCain’s presidential campaign money, you would think the Institute is doing all sorts of great things to stop human trafficking, right?

You’d be wrong.
In 2012 the Institute donated exactly $500,000.

In 2013 it was $500,000 again.

In 2014 it was increased to $1,500,000.

Nice, round numbers. It’s almost as if the Institute did nothing else all year except sign one check to keep up the pretense they were actually doing what they tell the public they do.

And to whom or what did that $2.5 million go to? Some human trafficking superfighter, you would think, right?

You’d be wrong again.

It all – every last penny – went to the Arizona State University Foundation (scroll down through the tax returns to see the disclosure).

Which, by the way, does not appear to have anything whatsoever to do with human trafficking.

Are we looking at a money laundering operation here? The McCain Institute is starting to look an awful lot like the bogus Clinton Foundation.

Arizona Radio Station Stops Airing Advice On Hiding Child Pornography : The Two-Way : NPR

"In many cases, the penalty for possession of pictures is worse than the penalty for murder," Lotsof stated in the PSA. "You should understand that your Internet provider could report you to the police if they catch you looking at a website featuring naked juveniles. The police then enter your house and seize your computer."

Lotsof offered practical advice, telling anyone possessing such material how they could "save yourselves and your family a ton of grief, and save the taxpayers of Arizona a lot of money" — not by refusing to take part in an illegal enterprise, but by avoiding being caught doing so.

In interviews with the media, Lotsof has said he's against Arizona's law that punishes those who possess child pornography with a minimum of 10 years in prison for each violation.
