Palestine the historical name for the Holy Land, has rich cultural associations with three of the World's grea religions: Islam, Judiasm and Christianity.
In the early part of this century Britain adopted a policy favoring "establishment in Palestine of a national home for the Jewish people...It being clearly understood that nothing shall be done which may prejudice the civil and religious rights of existing non-jewish communities in Palestine..." - Balfour Declaration, November 2, 1917
Britain helped 550,00 Jews, mostly from Europe, move into Palestine between 1918 and 1948.
Palestinians concerns that they would become second class citizens in their own land were ignored.
In 1948 leaders of the Jewish minority in Palestine declared independance for a jewish state (Israel) and proceeded to drive out the Palestinians.

More than half a million palestinians were chased out of their homes for being the wrong kind of human. They managed to hold the mountains and the Gaza strip.
In 1967 the Israeli army occupied the rest of the Palestine ("the West Bank and Gaza Strip").

Since 1967 Israel has been the single largest recipient of the U.S. foreign aid.
U.S. foreign aid law prohibits military and economic aid to any country which engages in "a consistent pattern of gross violations of internationally recognized human rights" Sections 502 and 116[a] Foreign Assistance Act
The occupation of Palestine was funded by U.S. taxpayers

When Israel occupied East Jerusalem in 1967 it immediately annexed the city and declared Jerusalem the eternal capital of Israel.
Annexing territory taken by force is illegal under international law regardless of the circumstances of the conflict.
Neither Berlin nor Tokyo were annexed at the end of the World War II
The United Nations has declared the annexation of occupied Jerusalem invalid - General Assembly Resolution 2253, 7/67
"The Occupying Power shall not deport or transfer parts of its own civilian population into the territory it occupies." Geneva Convention of 1949 Articale 49 (para. 6)
^^^^Israel has transferred 140,000 Jews to settlements in Occupied Palestine
The Israeli government uses tax breaks and mortgage incentives to create "settlers"
Settlements are 100% segregated communities. (dozens of little south africas) *Jews only*
A Palestinian cannot rent or buy one of these fine homes built with taxes from a country where housing discrimination is illegal.
Settlements are usuallly started on public grazing lands. Then the Israeli army declares the surrounding lands off limits to Palestinians for "security reasons."
Once Israelis move in Palestinians are forbidden to even walk across thier old lands. As though the land itself had been carried away.
As settlements for Jews are being built Israel deomolishes Palestinians homes.
"Any destruction by the occupying Power of real or personal property is prohibited..." Article 53 Geneva Accords
More than 2,000 Palestinian families' homes destroyed
More then half of the occupied West Bank is now off limits to Palestinian inhabitants.
A third of Gaza has been "purified" of Palestinians.
It wouldnt be the first time Jewish settlers ran Palestinians out of their homes. In 1948 Jewsih settlers drove 726,000 Palestinians into the sea and deserts surrounding Palestine. Israel barred the displaced Palestinians from returning to thier homes, then declared their property abandoned, and claimed it all. Many of thier homes stand empty to this day.
"persons (under control of an occupying power) shall at all times be humanely treated, and shall be protected especially against all acrs of violence or threats therof..." Article 27 Geneva Accords

Palestinian children in the West Bank were denied education for three years. School closures substantially increased the number of targets of the streets
In 1996 Israel recieved 7 times as much U.S. aid as all of black Africa, 6 times as much as the U.S. spent of famine relief for the entire planet.
1996 Cuts in programs for America's Poor = 5.7 Billion ....Cuts in aid to Israel = $0, aid to Israel $5.5 billion
Cuts in Food Stamps = $1.2 Billion, Straight cash grant to Israel $1.2 Billion, 4 times as much as research to cure AIDS, killer of more Americans than the Vietnam War.
All of the funding for the National Endowment for the Arts, since it was created in 1966 is less that Israel recieves in 8 months.
Cuts in PBS funding = $10 million equal 16 hours aid to Israel....you name just about anything...... $77,726,000,000 takes it home.
Taxes are what we pay for a civilized society
