Nice anti communism propaganda from 1947. It's always fun looking at propaganda from that time period.
You can always spot the propaganda, and those that don't know what their talking about, when they equate big government with communism. Communism, is of course, stateless. There is no big dictatorship government, Socialism is supposed to be the dictatorship of the proletariat where the working class is the ruling class in contrast Capitalism whereby the bourgeois is the ruling class, and communism is stateless. It's funny to think how the propaganda at the time was to convince the people that Communism is a global conspiracy, controlled and manipulated by an elite few, to oppress the people of the world, rather than a movement of worker's fighting to free themselves from the shackles of the ruling elite. It's that reverse psychology that has been in play for well over 50 years that has led to the current state of the mere words of "socialism" and "communism" being taboo in the US, that such words are practically banned from public schools unless it is direct criticism or at best "good in theory but not in practice".
In a very small amount of history, a hundred years, we've seen socialism and it's various forms. We've seen state communism, to an extent. But we haven't seen communism yet since it's never been achieved. What we've seen is state communism and even then we've mostly seen Stalinism or forms of Stalinism, which as Socialist George Orwell wrote about was obviously extremely authoritarian, which of course is exactly the opposite of what communists set out to achieve.
Propaganda or not, is it dead? Well it hasn't even begun. Inevitably it will come in some form or another, as society and mankind evolve so too does the economic systems and global Capitalism will die and be replaced, like everything before it.
